We considered dedicating more than 1 article to exploring this topic regarding violence against animals. In this way anyone can receive correct and easy to understand information regarding the forms of mistreatment of dogs and cats. Although they are capable of offering companionship, devotion and unconditional love, they are at the same time vulnerable to the negative manifestations of man and his psycho-emotional imbalances.

Signs that help us recognize a traumatized animal:

• Your dog or cat may show aggression or lethargy due to hunger or dehydration.
• Visible body trauma, wounds, burns, inflammation. The animal may be infested with fleas, ticks and may be underweight. They may also become lame, unable to walk, or have congested eyes and ears
• Abandoned: the animal has no shelter. It may be left in a house, yard, or other area that appears free of human activity. Many owners abandon their pets in abandoned buildings to limit the animal’s ability to escape.
• Abnormal behavior, for example too aggressive or shy. It can hide, tremble or, conversely, bite.
• Lack of sanitation services in the area where the animal lives.
• By immobilizing him in a cage or tying him to a heavy object that limits his freedom of movement.
• Proof that the animal has been trained to fight. In its environment you can see training tools, poles, ropes, etc. Very often they can show obvious signs of trauma including scars, open wounds, infections, or even missing body parts such as ears and tails.
• The existence of a large number of animals living in the same family.

It’s funny when we watch a trained dog in a movie but we don’t know what may be hiding behind the screen. Many times the animals are subjected to severe training to be able to play a role and the living conditions can be quite precarious. Cases of animals subjected to abuse and violence even on film sets are famous.

• Violence against animals induced by public authorities

Programs developed by state agencies and authorities sometimes violate animal rights. Driven by the desire to eliminate these innocent beings, some countries encourage their public killing. Citizens are paid to kill stray dogs and subject the animals to various physical and psychological trauma. These are the realities of the current times and such behaviors are also financially stimulated. On the other hand, there are economic measures (for example sterilization) to control reproduction and naturally reduce their numbers.

• Medicine and laboratory experiments

Animal experiments are common phenomena in the laboratories of large pharmaceutical companies. In most cases, animals are exposed to various procedures to observe the reactions and/or effects of certain substances. Test methods that do not involve animals are much more relevant in terms of the accuracy of the results. Sometimes animals are used to test certain products with the promise that they will be on the market in a few years, but as time passes the studies are abandoned. This is due to the fact that in the first phase of testing encouraging results were observed, but it was found that they cannot be adapted to the treatment of the human body. When choosing a product it is advisable to read the label and opt for those that have not been tested on animals. By purchasing or using products from companies that test on animals, you are actually funding animal abuse and violence.

The use of animals in the circus has always been a sensitive topic. There are rumors that it’s all about the fun aspect. On the other hand, we must admit that locking animals in cages and subjecting them to rigorous training has little to do with care and respect for them. Animals generally have little space to rest and their life takes place in an unhealthy environment.
There are numerous reports and documentaries attesting to the cruelty of the training process as well as the serious irregularities related to food, housing and care. Nowadays there are circuses that present performances without animals. Spaces where animals are severely abused and mistreated should be banned, and we, as individuals, should be more discerning in choosing the types of shows we attend. The most important aspect in this sense is the model of relationship towards animals that we choose to present to children.

• Electric pulse collars for dogs

Stores dedicated to pets not only offer products with a positive effect on their life, but also offer another type of products that aim at education using various stimuli such as electric shocks. For example, the collar with electrical impulses is used to prevent the animal from barking or to discourage unwanted behavior. People use these products in order not to engage in the education of the animal or simply to ignore its natural manifestations. Improper use of these products can cause burns, anxiety, stress and great suffering to pets.

Breeding dedicated to intensive reproduction and the sale of fur, especially of dogs of a certain breed, fights, dog racing and other extremely violent forms of abuse against animals cancel the so-called superior condition of man and his status as master over nature. We live and fully experience the negative effects produced by man on nature, manifestations of psychological problems, ignorance and lack of education.

Any type of violence against animals should be punished and all activities whose sole objective is economic profit should be discouraged. In conclusion, each of us is responsible for developing a healthy attitude that implies respect for animals and for reacting promptly to any form of mistreatment.
