Tips for keeping your cat happy at home

We have decided to adopt or buy a cat. The question is: are we ready to adequately welcome the new non-speaking friend? But even more important is whether we are willing to offer him the relaxation space and comfort necessary for daily activity to take place as close as possible to his natural habitat.

Our apartment or house will certainly need improvements, adapted to its characteristics and needs in order to provide the cat with a relaxed and comfortable environment. Naturally, the domestic cat learns to adapt to a closed environment. Its curious nature, desire to explore and natural hunting instinct are the key elements that we must take into account when it comes to organizing the internal space. Her personality and charm inspire us to want to offer her the best for her comfort.

Over time, we will develop a right partnership with our cat where we will give and receive. Animals generally have the ability to offer unconditional comfort and love, and the cat, in particular, has the power to bring greater calm, relaxation and security.

To ensure the happiness and health of the cat it is necessary to identify those creative solutions regarding the interior design of the personal home. Providing a stimulating environment for physical activity and a range of fun toys can satisfy his pleasure of crawling and exploring. The cat needs to climb, jump, run and an adapted environment will help it stay fit, healthy and happy.
An important aspect that we must keep in mind is that a kitten raised at home will adapt to the environment and integrate very well as an adult.

So that our cat feels happy we must provide them with quality food. Diet is extremely important for the well-being and health of the cat. A general problem of today’s times is obesity among pets. In this sense it is necessary to identify the right food, suited to the body’s needs, physical characteristics and also taking into account its age.

If we don’t know how to dose the quantity of food, it is advisable to read the labels on cat food packages, which give us useful suggestions regarding the weight and combination of foods. We must keep in mind that these are general recommendations that will need to be adapted to the size, weight and needs of the cat. You will need to monitor the effects of the diet and observe its overall impact on your health.
It all starts with nutrition and if it is difficult for us to manage the animal’s diet it is advisable to seek the advice of a veterinarian. We will have to pay particular attention to food rewards. The cat loves good food, but rewards should be offered from time to time, with great caution to avoid weight gain.

The cat also needs movement, jumping and climbing. In this sense it would be advisable to purchase a windowsill to install next to a sunny window. This item can be purchased at a pet shop. In this way we will satisfy the cat’s need to watch what is happening outside the window, but also for a pleasant space for the afternoon siesta. In the window sill we can add a special frame that provides the cat with the necessary space to climb or jump.

Another type of object that your cat will surely like is a set that imitates the structure of a tree and which is composed of a multitude of chambers, branches and other elements attractive to the feline. It can be purchased in a specialized store or made at home. Such an object can have an average structure or even the height of a room. The cat will appreciate the possibility of climbing and, in families with multiple cats, this object can represent a real play and rest area for him. Its vertical structure is an advantage when it comes to placement in an apartment. Furthermore, it can also be placed next to a window so that the cat can follow the activity outside with great interest and curiosity.

The need to play and interact with the owner is very important for the feline. She enjoys constant communication and it is advisable to set aside some time to play with her. A daily hug, a caress between the ears or under the chin will increase the cat’s well-being.

At the same time, however, we must consider some gestures and activities that can irritate the cat:

– The cat should always be stroked from forehead to tail and never in the opposite direction.
– She doesn’t like having her paws and tail touched.
– Cats hate being cuddled excessively: if the animal shows signs of nervousness it is necessary to let it go.
– Avoid sudden movements around the cat: it will scratch if it feels threatened.

Offer different types of toys for the cat to hit, catch or chase. After the play episode, it is recommended to pick up any toys that could harm them, such as those with strings, strings or strings attached. When we are away from home and the cat is left alone, it is advisable to allow free access to objects such as cardboard boxes or larger packages. It is advisable to buy new toys from time to time so that you can constantly stimulate the cat’s interest.

The relationship with the cat is special and we are committed to offering it good living conditions, adapted as much as possible to its natural habitat. Constant interaction with the feline will build a close relationship. She will feel loved and safe. Give the cat freedom even inside the house and in this sense a private space is necessary. Don’t try to constantly interact with her, go beyond her comfort zone and give her her independence. A quiet space is all that matters to her and this will give her the confidence to approach you. The relationship with the cat is built taking into account its needs. His charming personality will constantly bring you fun, comfort, joy and lots of joy.
